Marya is the Executive Director of Harness, an organization that works within Hollywood to center the narratives of marginalized communities in popular culture. She is also the Founder and CEO of SILA Consulting, a social impact firm that brings together entertainment, philanthropy, and social movements to drive social change. Her work includes engaging with Hollywood studios, influencers, and culture-makers to center the voices of vulnerable communities, including Muslim, Arab, and South Asian communities. She is also Chair of the Board of Muslim Students Association West (MSA West), an umbrella organization of thirty-six Muslim student groups across California. Previously, she worked as a community organizer with low-income communities in Los Angeles on education access and health care reform. As a Coro Fellow, she worked for the Speaker of the Assembly doing policy analysis and conducting census-based research. Marya graduated as a Dean’s Merit Scholar from the University of Southern California (USC) with her Masters in Public Administration in 2015, specializing in nonprofit management and public policy.
